Slipped on a clean Hippy

Bizarre, but hugely fun!

Slipped on a clean Hippy is the big band component of my 2006 SAMRO Competition entry. It was written for the Rhodes University big band, to feature my
friend, Steve Ellis, on the drum kit. It takes a drummer like Steve (ie, more than just great) to pull this one off, as it is a big band breakbeat tune. It requires a very hip
sense from the drummer and bassist, and a massive sense of humour from the players.
It quickly jumps in and out of groove, popping into everything from organised chaos to an obscene little atonal Viennese waltz. I have taken a solo with my cellphone on this song, so just about everything goes. There is no way you can perform this without rehearsing, so it takes a bit of talking to get it straight in everyone's heads.
